With industrial ruggedization, imaging lenses are simplified and streamlined, making them more cost-effective than standard product versions and ideal for set-and-forget instrumentation and OEM application integration. Industrial ruggedized lenses are designed to survive shock and vibration without becoming damaged, or changing focus or f/# through the elimination of complex movable components.

Adjustable irises are swapped for fixed aperture stops and bulky barrel-based focusing mechanisms are replaced with a single thread. These modifications are also the foundation for the other types of ruggedization and improve product lifetime. Industrial ruggedization lenses are ideal for factory automation environments where vision systems are subjected to repeated acceleration and motion.
